GETTING TO LA GRANGE
La Grange is situated in the village of Les Combes, a few kilometres from the town of Magnac Laval in the Haute Vienne département of Limousin in central France. Most of our visitors arrive at the farmhouse by car, but you can easily start your holiday by a variety of means. Below are some general notes, but if you let us know how you are intending to travel, we will send you detailed instructions for getting to the farmhouse well before you travel.
By Air - Limoges and Poitiers airports are only 40 minutes drive from the farmhouse, and they are both served by a number international flights daily. A wide range of hire companies and vehicles are available at the airports, although we strongly advise you to book these in advance of your holiday. Taxi services from the airport are very expensive, and you will almost ceratainly need transport during your stay, so if you are stating your journey by air, hiring a car for the last leg is a must. By Train - There are numerous train services to La Souterraine (on the Paris-Limoges line) every weekday, and frequent services throughtout the weekends. Car hire is available at the station or in town. While a taxi for the five miles (eight kilometres) to the farmhouse would not be particularly pricey, note as above that you will really need a car while you are at La Grange. By Car - La Grange is only a few kilometres from the RN20 Orléans-Limoges autoroute, with the Limoges exit only 25 minutes from the farmhouse. Car Hire - It is often cheaper in France to lease a car from the manufacturer than to rent, especially if your holiday is for more than two weeks, and this can be arranged through your travel agent. If you are coming in the summer, be sure to ask for an air-conditioned car. Note that most car rental agencies are closed on Sundays and national holidays, so if you are renting, be sure to check availability of your vehicle well in advance of your arrival.
